Save the Elephant!

Regarding the application for an outside music permit for the Elephant in the Room pub, I want to ask, "why music outside?"

The answer clearly resides in the weather. People thrive here, people visit here and the grapes grow here because of the uniquely delightful weather we enjoy in Healdsburg. We want to be out in it!
And the encouragement for music is now well stated, with directives from the City Council, from Parks and Recreation Commission and from the SDAT group. Healdsburg is ideally suited and well poised to position itself as a haven for the arts. Diversifying our attractiveness from just food and wine into the arts (and also. athletics such as running, cycling, hiking) will not only create immediate rewards for our citizens but will strengthen and broaden our strongest economic endeavors.

KC Mosso, a well loved bartender, host and patron of the arts (mainly music) in Healdsburg, has created a tremendous gift to our town with "The Elephant". He curates performances from local and touring talent with tremendous taste, skill and excitement. For the most part, the performances have been free of a door charge. The music is being met with tremendous enthusiasm and support. And the location couldn't be better. Just off-plaza, lots of parking, easy to walk or bike to -it's absolutely ideal. You could not ask for a location which more removed from residences and hotels, yet accessible.

To those grouches who prefer silence to a little music wafting on the air, we respectfully ask that they welcome the new Healdsburg, where music, the arts and celebration of our bucolic, fair-weathered burg should be encouraged and welcomed. To this end, I ask that you whole-heartedly approve Mosso's application, and please, come join your friends and neighbors at the Elephant for a beer and a memorable evening of music on the patio!
